Nakshatras Professions and Dhruva Nadi Part 1

Dear friends I am sharing the professions of Nakshatras of Ashwini, Bharani, Krittika, Rohini, Mrigasira from Dhruva Nadi. Purpose of sharing professions from these ancient sources is that its the most authenticated knowledge in Jyotish that we have with us yet after so long and also to do a comparative study on it in future to see if we have deviated from ancient teachings or  adapted it to modern knowledge or changed it totally, as tradition in any subject is most important thing which should never be loosed sight of while doing further investigations in that subject. I also here may clarify that writing these series from Dhruva Nadi and Brihat Samhita and other so many topics is that I am putting some seeds for my future practical Astrology. Inshallah by Grace of Allah Almighty we will go into practical cases studies and use all these seeds over there. So stay tuned and pray for me that I had the courage and time to share what ever I learnt from east and west for u people so that a new era of research can start in future.

Here I may add for the beginners in Jyotish, that Nadis literature is the most ancient and most authoritative part of Jyotish. According to scholars there are more than 32 Nadis scattered all over India.

According to late Dr B V Raman who possessed a no of Nadis, Dhruva Nadi was the most authenticated Nadi Jyotish Book, it was written by Maharishi Kasyapa.

Commander of the Army, Horse Stealer, Physician, Servant, Horse Rider, Trader, Hunter, Handsome, Stable keeper.

Professions of Bharani

According to Nadi Bharani is interested in following articles persons and professions.

Blood and flesh consumer, cruel minded, interested in killing, binding and beating, born of low pedigree, lacking satwik quality.

Professions of Krittika

 According to Nadi Krittika is interested in following articles persons and professions.

 White flowers, Sacrificial priests, Pundits versed in Mantras and sutras, Commentators of sastras, Gold miners, Barbers, Potters, Purohits and Astrologers

Professions of Rohini

 According to Nadi Rohini is interested in following articles persons and professions.

Merchants, King, Man of Riches, Lovely maidens fulfilling vows, Yogis, Cows, Bullocks, Cart driver, Watery Animals, Agriculturists.

Fraud Internet and Tv Astrologers

New breed of Internet and TV Astrologers 

When a person asks me what i do and i tell them that i am an Astrologer, they say no no what u do. Ppl don’t take Astrology as profession seriously. I have thought seriously about this why they think that astrology cant be a profession. I just found one answer to this that it is because non serious and non professional people have entered this field, what i mean is ppl who have very little knowledge of even basics of Astrology have started showing up at TV Channels and Internet Sites and Social Media Sites like Facebook and promoting themselves as Astrologer. In this article we will try to focus how you can know whether the person sitting on a TV program or Facebook even know basics of Astrology or not. After all its your future who u are asking him and his answer may make u wrong decisions if he don’t know his art correctly.

I have been learning  and experimenting with Astrology for last 22 years and have learnt all major Schools of Astrology from East and West and know so many internationally reputed good Astrologers from both sides everyday learn something new from them but still feel to learn more and more as there are so new many things to discover every day.

You may wonder who is promoting such foolish type of Astrology when u see everyday a new Internet astrologer or TV Astrologer who even don’t know the basics of either Western Astrology or Jyotish and represents himself all over the Internet or TV shows as a Master Astrologer to make fool of ppl. As i am myself an Journalist i know that TV Channels or Newspaper don’t care who is writing column or doing a program until their ratings is getting high and they are getting high rated advertisements. So in a view Media Industry is also to be blamed in this promotion of false image of Astrology.

There are so many categories of these people some only ask ur date of birth and instantly start answering ur questions answers. Others only ask ur name and ur mother name and start predicting ur future, some more are who only take ur date of birth and place of birth  and start predicting ur future. There are some who even don’t bother to make any horoscope either and give direct answers, one person who used to do a program on our TV where i used to work and advised ppl about their Lucky Gem Stones  and have a laptop in front of him and use to show off that he was making some calculations but in actual he was always staring at the blank screen this was told to me by ppl working in the recording studious. All these people are not real Astrologers and they even don’t know the basics of Astrology as no real astrologer will ever answer ur questions with the Time of ur Birth.

Then there is one more category which is very popular among our masses these days known as Peer Sahab or Baba ji. These Quacks have some Shudra type of Mantra Powers which have some powers attached to it and these powers read the mind of the client and tell the baba ji now baba ji predict all thier past accurately even the names of their father, mother, wife, even how many brothers, sisters he/she have. What job or Business he/she do and these make frauds in many types. In India they make fraud at the name of Nadi Astrology and in Pakistan on the name of spiritualism and Astrology. its a long story will some day write more on it also. Now these so called baba jis have also entered the TV shows and many of them like them to be called Astrologers.

I can name hundred of such ppl whom i have seen becoming Astrologers when they couldn’t survive in their Jobs or Bushinesses. Similarly i know so many other ppl who are in reality good Palmists but have become Astrologers as astrology is more popular these days than any other spiritual science.

I have seen so many cases from India that many Youngsters who came on some astrology groups or Facebook asking for  some answer for them or some of their relatives within a year time they become professional Astrologers.

We should all condemn this type of astrology and try to know some info and credibility of knowledge of these persons  before asking them important questions of our life. As one false prediction from their mouth can ruin ur life and i have so many practical experiences of it.

Finally concluding my musings on this subject i must clarify that i am not against these youngsters or their activities but i just want to advice these new young Internet Astrologers who practice Jyotish or Western Astrology to pls  read Classical Jyotish books, Western Astrology books and  other recently published books by some experienced Astrologers to understand things in clear way instead of posing that i know it all behavior and then try to understand properly the basics of Jyotish and Western Astrology under the guidance of some learned experienced Jyotishi and Astrologer thru making lot of practical charts and only then they should start giving predictions to other people. As this will not only bring good name and fame and of course wealth also to them but also give some credibility to this ancient science which is getting more defame because of their wrong predictions.

I may here add that a good Astrologer should have knowledge of both systems of Astrology that is Western Astrology and Jyotish as both compliment each other and add a lot of new knowledge for the Astrologer. Astrologer prime Job is to guide his Clients properly thru whatever matter he wants to discuss. Its my humble experience that only those Astrologers who have deep Knowledge from Both Schools are really v good Astrologers.

Chandal Yoga from Sarvarath Chintamani

Its a pity that these days Internet Astrologers new breed who practice Jyotish don’t even read Classical Jyotish books to understand properly the Yoga chapter of Jyotish under the guidance of some learned experienced Jyotishi and start giving predictions to their clients is really astonishing.

Here i just tried to emphasize the need to read Old Jyotish classics or books by world renown researchers scholars to understand things in clear way instead of todays cook books.

I may here add that a good Astrologer should have knowledge of both systems of Astrology that is Western Astrology and Jyotish as both compliment each other and add a lot of new knowledge for the Astrologer. Whose prime Job is guide his Clients properly thru whatever matter he wants to discuss. Its my humble experience that all those Astrologers who have deep Knowledge from Both Schools are really v good Astrologers.

Ok now revert back to the topic at hand, In one of Jyotish group someone asked recently the effects of Guru Chandal Yoga and wanted some clarifications as some writer from chenai who wrote a book on Jyotish has written Rahu and Saturn Yoga as Guru Chandal Yoga. I am really amazed that ppl who even don’t understand the basics of Astrology are writing books on it and making fool

As much i know Guru Chandal Yoga is the Combination of Jupiter and Rahu. So i tried to write a this small contribution to clear some confusion about this Yoga in minds of Astrologers.

Here is the definition he gave for this Yoga. The person earns money which is against society, maybe like earning from liquor sale etc. taken from the book kudumha jothidam published in chennai. 

My Answer to Above  There is no doubt that the Person having the Yoga of Jupiter and Rahu gives money from unfair, foul, illegal sources but not specifically from liquor sale and this happens in 11th house specifically only, not in any other house.

Another Female Astrologer wrote  Guru Chandal Yoga main padhaai beech main chhut jaati hai bahut adchane aati hain. Meaning it disturbs education and person leaves it in between.

My Answer to above Ur observation is correct with respect to disturbance to education but it only happens if the combination of Jupiter and Rahu happens in 11th House and sometimes it don’t disrupt the education of native but his one of his/her children’s provided that child horoscope also shows disturbance.

My Reserach 

I saw this definition of Jupiter conjunct Rahu or Ketu in Sawarath Chintamani translated by J N Bhasin Ji.

In 10th House Effects under Destruction of Good Yogas He Writes *****If Jupiter is with Rahu or Ketu and is aspected by a malefic planet it creates ”’Chandal”” Yoga i.e. a yoga denoting bad characteristics of the Native.

Opposite Yoga is also written in next sloka which i am also giving for those who don’t have this classic with them. I think everyone who loves Jyotish should have this Classic, as its the most clearly written book with respect to twelve bhava readings.

*****Even when Jupiter is located with Rahu, Ketu or Saturn, but is aspected by Venus and Moon, the native even if he be a Shudra is treated as a Brahman, efficient in good Knowledge.

Jataka Parijat also mention this Yoga and according to the Translation of Subramanyam Shastri, “””When jupiter in conjuction with Rahu or Ketu is aspected by malefic planets, the person born will do base acts.

Above is according to the book The Mysteries of Rahu in a horoscope written by a Shiv Raj Sharma a Student of Respected K N Rao ji.

So we see that Definition given by Savarath Chintamani is based on Jataka Parijata.

Shri K N Rao Ji  also quote the examples of C. Rajagoplachari and Nehru for this Yoga. He writes the effects for this yoga as that it can be from mild non-conformism to intense jealousy and violent vituperative expressions. With the first example he says it was very mild and in case of Nehru he says it was more intense as it happens in the 6th house of aggressiveness. He was known for his most wild expressions against Hinduism, the faith in which he was born.

Brihat Samhita is a monumental work on Jyotish especially Mundane Astrology by Great Varahmihra who is held in high esteem after Parashar in Jyotish Literature and whose books have reached us intact till now on Horary. Natal, Mundane and Astronomy.

The Sun is the Lord of the region at the source of the river Narmada; of Bengal, Kalinga; of  Sakas;  Yavanas; of  Magdha,  Sabra, Praagjyotisha, Cambodia and China.

He is also the Lord of hunters, of people living on either side of Vindhyas and Satpuras,of those living on the southern side of river Jumna and the Dravidians living in the first half of the south. He’s the Lord of Bombay, of Kausaambi, of the river ikshumati, of the forest and their dwellers, of trees, seeds; of warriors of shepherds; Lord of fire, Pepper, Poison, Medicine, Doctors, Kings, Agriculturists, of animals, thief’s, Serpents, of deserts.

The sun is dark crimson in colour, Short and lean in Stature with honey-colored eyes and little hair on his head; strong boned, harsh and brutal, but a steady planet, a king, square faced, master of the animal kingdom, lord of east, with savage eyes, dweller of the Forrest but with satvic nature, lives like a grass-eating animal, strong in the day, 30 years old, with uplifted eyes, Powerful in Uttaraayna, wearing rough cloth, with five rays, dweller in a thatched house, the lord of tin, lead and precious stone Vaiduuryam and thorn trees, lord of short fruit- bearing trees, lord of ornaments worn on head, nose, neck and chest and lord of short fruit-bearing trees and of plants like ginger, bringal, beans etc.

Ashwini Nakshatra

For those Born in  Aswini Nakshatra  Natives 

Physical features : Male born in Ashwini Nakshatra will have a beautiful countenance. His eyes will be bright and large. Forehead broad and nose a little bigger.

Character and general events: The native may appear to be very calm and quite, but capable of getting his work done un-noticed and is more predominant in the case of native born during the period from April 14th to April 28th, when the sun will be transiting his exaltation place in Ashwini and from October 14th to October 28th, when the sun will be transiting his debilitation place in Svati. There is a saying that even Yama, the God of Death, cannot change his adamant attitude. Those born in the Ashwini of other months will have stubbornness in a lesser degree.

He will remain faithful to those who love him and will not hesitate to sacrifice anything for such persons. Ashwini born is the best friend in need provided others understand him. He keeps his patience even at the time of greatest perils. But it will be a hurricane task to console the native when he goes berserk. He is the best advisor to the persons in agony. But he deeply resents and fears criticism, see suggestions from others, as a frightening attempt at manipulation.

He takes his own time to do any work. Even so, his actions may be slow but well thought. He will not jump upon any matter without examining prose and corns of each item of work. He cannot be easily influenced. Once he carries out an action or work, whether it is good or bad, right or wrong, he will stick to what he has done, come what may.

He is a firm believer of God. But there is no room for religious or other sentiments. He is orthodox but in new style i.e., he believes in modernization of orthodox method and belief.

Even though he is quite intelligent, at times he makes mountain of even small matters. This leads him in a state of lack of mental peace and will always be in desperate mood. He is always interested in keeping the entire surroundings neat and clean.

Education and sources of earnings / profession: He is jack of all arts. He is generally fond of music and interested in literary pursuits. Period up to his 30th years of age will be full of struggle. He has to face obstacles even for small matters. From the 30th year of age, there will be steady and continuous progress which will continue up to 55 years of age.

One of the predominant features noticed is that he is very stingy, but his expenditure will be more than his income due mainly to his pomp and show. He is inclined to meet his desires and needs at any cost.

Family life: He loves his family in entire sincerity. However, he is subjected to hatred by his own family members due to his adamant behavior. Affection that was expected and the care that was required cannot be derived from the father of the native. In other words, the natives as also his co-borns will be neglected by their father. Whatever help he may derive is only from the side of his maternal uncle. Maximum possible help will come from those who are outside the family circle.

Normally marriage takes place between 26 to 30 years of age. There will be more sons than daughters.

Female Natives 

Females born in this Nakshatra will have more or less the same general results as mentioned in the case of male natives. In addition, she will have the following results:

Physical features: Eyes will bright and small resemble to that of a fish. She has a magnetic look.

Character and general events: She has the technique of bringing anybody near to her with her sweet speech. She maintains utmost patience. She indulges in too many sexual operations. She is pure hearted. Even while living in the modern society she maintains the age old tradition of respecting elders.

Education, sources of earning / profession: If employed she may either be not interested in the work after 50 years of age and may quit the job or seek voluntary retirement. It is not a negative point. She may do so, as her financial or other conditions would have improved by her 50th years of age, and she no longer requires any work for her livelihood. She will thereafter devote herself to the welfare of the family and to some extent do social work, provided other planetary positions are not adverse. Administrative type of job  is earmarked for her.

Family life: Normally marriage takes place between the periods of 23 years to 26 years of age. It has been noticed that in case marriage takes place at a young age i.e., before the age of 23 years, such marriage ends either at divorce, separation from the husband for long time or even death of the husband.

 There will be more female children than male children. She is quick to respond to the needs and desires of her children to pursue the interest of the children. Whenever time permits, these females do cleaning of the house and household articles and they force others to do the same.

 Health: Her health will generally be good. Main cause of her ailments is unnecessary mental worry and anxiety. In some cases, when such worry or anxiety goes beyond control, it has been noticed that brain disorder of mild type takes place at a later stage. She should always be careful while cooking or while handling fire. In the modern society, motor vehicle accidents have also been noticed.

I have taken following info from Houses the translation of Brihat Parashar Hora of Maharishi Parashar translated to English by R Santhanam.

This book according to majority Indian Astrologers is the most important book on the Jyotish. As majority of the Jyotish books were written following the Parashari School of Thought.

It is thought to be written 3000 to 2500 years before. So its a primary source on Jyotish. So we have taken the chapter from this book which deals with the Significations of different houses in Jyotish according to most authoritative Jyotishis of Past.

Hope this knowledge will be helpful to some beginners student to understand the ocean of Jyotish.

Ch. 11. Judgment of Houses

O Maharishi Parashara,

I have come to know of the evils and antidotes thereof from you.

Please tell me, what is to be deduced from each House.

Indications of 1st House.

Maharishi Parashar replies. Physique, appearance, intellect (or the organ of intelligence, i.e. brain), complexion of the body, vigor, weakness, happiness, grief and innate nature are all to be guessed through the ascending Rasi or Ascendant or First house.

Indications of 2nd House.

Wealth, grains (food etc.), family, death, enemies, metals, precious stones etc. are to be understood through 2nd House.

Indications of 3rd House.

From 3rd House know of the following: valor, servants (attending etc.), brothers, sisters etc., initiatory instructions (Upadesha), journey and parents death.

Indications of 4th House.

Conveyances, relatives, mother, happiness, treasure, lands and buildings are to be consulted through 4th House.

Indications of 5th House.

The learned should deduce from 5th House amulets, sacred spells, learning, knowledge, sons, royalty (or authority), fall of position etc.

Indications of 6th House.

Maternal uncle, doubts about death, enemies, ulcers, step-mother etc. are to be estimated from 6th House.

Indications of 7th House.

Wife, travel, trade, loss of sight, death etc. be known from 7th House.

Indications of 8th House.

8th House indicates longevity, battle, enemies, forts, wealth of the dead and things, that have happened and are to happen (in the past and future births).

Indications of 9th House.

Fortunes, wife’s brother, religion, brothers wife, visits to shrines etc. be known from 9th House.

Indications of 10th House.

Royalty (authority), place, profession (livelihood), honour, father, living in foreign lands and debts are to be understood from 10th House.

Indications of 11th House.

All articles, sons wife, income, prosperity, quadrupeds etc. are to be understood from 11th House.

Indications of 12th House.

From 12th House, one can know about expenses, history of enemies, ones own death etc.

Astrology and conception of a healthy child.

The news item given below is about how a couple have given birth to a healthy child by following the methods used in Vedic culture. The genetic aberrations can be put under check or even avoided if the couple plans the child in thoughtfully drafted methods of Vedic religion. Ayurveda and astrology have a say in these methods.

Speaking on astrology, I think I can give here some tips on conception of a healthy child as given by Varahamihira and others.

According to them the onset of menses follows certain planetary positions. Conception is successful in certain months only in which the menses has occurred under certain combinations.

The moon sign of the girl must be noted. The monthly movement of the moon with reference to this sign must be noted. The 3rd, 6th, 10th and 11th houses from moon sign are known as Upachayas. The other houses (1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 12th) are known as anupachayas or non-upachayas. Usually menses occurs when the moon transits non-upachaya signs. If at the time, moon receives the aspect of Mars (Mars aspects 4th, 7th and 8th houses from itself), that menses will facilitate conception in that cycle.

This is applicable to girls of child-bearing age. Sometimes menses may occur when the moon transits upachaya signs. It won’t facilitate conception even if Martian aspect is there on the moon. So the moon’s position (in non-upachaya) at the time of occurrence of menses is the primary requisite. Martian aspect is a facilitating factor for conception in that monthly cycle. Texts then proceed to analyze the conditions required for men also.

For the man, the moon must be in ‘reverse’ – that is in upachaya rasi from his moon sign and aspected by Jupiter or other friends of moon (sun, Mars) or Venus. When these conditions are present in a month for the man and woman, conception is more likely.

At the time of intercourse (lagna / ascendant) in such a month, there must not be melefics in the 7th house, for a healthy fertilization. There must be no planet in the 8th house. The lunar day (Thithi) of that time must not be Amavasya / Pournami / chathurthi (4th lunar phase) / ashtami (8th) / navami (9th) / chathurdasi (14th)

The day at that time (day starts at sunrise according to vedic astrology) can be Monday / Wednesday / Thursday / Friday. Other days don’t ensure formation of a healthy embryo.

The favorable asterisms are Sravana, Rohini, Anuradha, Swati, Revathi, Moola, Uttara, Uttrashada, Uttrabhadrapada and Satabhishak. Pushya, Dhanishta, Mrigashira, Ashwini, Chiitra and Punarvasu are average.

If all the other combinations (Thithi, day) are present, the days of these stars are ok. Rest of the stars is not favored for conception. Since the moment of conception determines the nature of fertilization and the growth of the embryo into a healthy being, these astrological combinations were followed in Vedic system.

Proper dieting and body cleansing methods of Ayurveda are needed as complementary requisites to ensure birth of a healthy child. In these modern times of non-belief in Vedic system, it is a wonder that someone had thought about them and had recommended them for practice.

Difficulty in conception and Jyotish

Jataka Alankara gives following four simple yogas to see if the native will have difficulty in having children.

It doesn’t means that anyone having any of these yogas will not have children, but we must keep in mind that according to all masters in astrology and Jyotish at least three or more combinations should be there in a horoscope for any event to become  a possibility.

1. The Sun, the Ascendant lord and Saturn in the 7th,

2. The Sun and Saturn in the 7th and Moon in the 10th devoid of Jupiter’s aspect, the wife will never conceive.

3. If lord of the 6th, the Sun and Saturn be in the 6th and the Moon be aspected by Mercury posited in the 7th, the woman will be barren.
